Geisha

I always found Geisha really interesting but it wasn't until I read the book Memoirs of a Geisha by Authur Golden that I felt I understood them.

The book is a facinating look into the extraodinary culture, I suggest you read it if you have not yet.

I have also seen the film that was based on Memoirs of a Geisha.
I loved it. It was almost as beautiful as I had imagined.

Here are some pictures from the film.

  1. I would suggest you read Mineko Iwasaki's "Geisha: A Life". It is much more accurate than Golden's greatly romanticized fiction (which is excellent, but fictional nonetheless). It is wonderful book, and may further enhance your knowledge and understanding of geisha.
